Seven students arrested for selling marijuana in Mangaluru
Mangaluru: As many as seven engineering students who were selling marijuana or ganja to their fellow students, including those at medical colleges, were arrested by Mangaluru city police on Sunday. The cops have seized 1.4kg of marijuana from the students, and confiscated six mobile phones. Acting on a tip-off, the cops went to Chembugudde, where they arrested the group of seven students who were caught selling the narcotic substance. All the seven students who have been arrested are natives of Kerala, and are in their early 20s. Mohammed Sinan, Hafeez Amin and Juhair are 22, while Mohammed Nihal, Bishrul Hafee and Adarsh are each 20. The other member of the group, Jakir Ali is 22. The seven students were enrolled at a private college in Mangaluru. Man arrested for derogatory post on social media Dakshina Kannada district police arrested Uppinangady resident Praveen Gowda for a derogatory post he made on social media, demeaning girls from a minority community. Gowda is a milk vendor. A complaint has been registered at a local police station. Man arrested for abusing minor girlDakshina Kannada district police on Sunday arrested a 34-year-old man, and booked him under the provisions of the Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl. K Sajauddin, a resident of Chikkamudnoor in Puttur, allegedly harassed the minor girl while he was travelling by an auto that was being driven by her father. Around 11.30am on Sunday, when Sajaudding was travelling by the auto, the girl told her father that he was misbehaving with her. The father registered a complaint at the Puttur town police station, following which the cops arrested Sajauddin, and booked him under Pocso Act.
