Lucknow: Ex-BSP MLA's son held for stabbing engineering student in Gomtinagar

LUCKNOW: Police on Friday arrested the son of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA in connection with the murder of 20-year-old engineering student in Gomtinagar area of Lucknow. The youth was stabbed to death by 12 unidentified miscreants at the front gate of a sprawling residential enclave in Gomtinagar extension on Thursday afternoon. Assistant commissioner of police, Gomtinagar, Santosh Singh told TOI that Aman Bahadaur, son of former BSP MLA from Dhaurahra, Shamsher Bahadur was arrested on Friday in Lakhimpur Kheri. Singh also said that Bahadur was arrested after CCTV footages of the brawl were recovered by the police. The police also traced mobile location on the basis of which Aman was arrested from Chinhat. ACP also said that some other suspects have also been detained and questioning with them is under way. According to police, victim Prashant Singh — the son of a farmer in Babatpur, Varanasi, who lived on rent with three roommates at Vijay Khand in the city — was stabbed at least 10 times at Gate 1 of Alaknanda Apartment and bled to death before he could be given medical help. “The accused targeted the victim’s vital organs. His heart was punctured. Postmortem will determine in details the nature of fatal injuries,” said ACP (Gomtinagar) Santosh Kumar Singh. One of Prashant’s roommates, Alok Yadav, has given police a written complaint based on which a murder FIR has been lodged against one Arpan Shukla. The trigger behind the attack seems to be a clash with college seniors at a restaurant on Wednesday night.
