Rape survivor, Class 9 student molested in Bhopal

BHOPAL: Acting on the directions of court, cops on Sunday registered a case on the complaint of a 27-year-old rape survivor. The survivor was waylaid, molested and threatened by the accused on December 12. When the woman reported the matter to police, no case was registered. The survivor then filed a criminal complaint before court, which directed the AJK (Special SC & ST Cases) police station to register a case. According to investigating officer, Renu Murab, the survivor works alleged that she was raped by Zahid Sheikh, who runs a computer shop in MP Nagar. She filed a complaint with the TT Nagar police, which registered a case against Zahid on February 22, 2017 and arrested him. The case is underway in court. Around 4pm on December 12, when the survivor was on her way to Eintkheri, Zahid and his friend Nikhil Agwawal waylaid her near Lambakhera and started pressurizing her to withdraw the case. They even offered her Rs10,000. However, when she rebuffed them, they molested her and fled, said Murab. In an incident reported from Berasia, a Class 9 student was allegedly molested on December 21. Initially she kept mum, but finally mustered courage and lodged a complaint on Sunday. Meanwhile a 16-year-old student of class 9 was allegedly molested by her neighbour in Berasia locality on December 21. The survivor approached police on Sunday and lodged a complaint. According to investigating officer, SI Pooja Tyagi, the survivor alleged that the accused, 28-year-old Saurabh Sharma, was stalking her for the last 15 days. On December 21, when she was returning home from school, Sharma waylaid her and forced her to accept his friendship. When she protested and raised an alarm, Sharma molested her and fled. A molestation case was registered and the accused is yet to be nabbed.
