AMU suspends student for using objectionable pic of PM on social media app on phone
AGRA: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Thursday suspended a student, who was earlier booked by Aligarh police, for allegedly using an objectionable poster of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a ˜status photo' on a social media application of his mobile phone. Confirming this, university spokesperson Shafey Kidwai said Mohammad Zaid Rashid, an MBA student at AMU's Kishanganj centre in Bihar, was suspended till the completion of the inquiry. He said the incident came to light after one Rajeshwar Singh had tweeted the same photograph from his twitter handle and alleged that it was put up on a banner in AMU during a protest. AMU officials claimed that the photograph was manipulated from the video of an event that was held in London. During investigation, Aligarh police found that the photograph was used as a WhatsApp status by Zaid.
